Amsterdam rat, mouse infestations see 30 percent rise

The number of reports of mice and rats in Amsterdam increased by 31 percent over the past year. Experts attribute the infestations growth to the mild winters and Amsterdam residents' lifestyles, AT5 reports. According to the broadcaster, the residents of the Weespflat has the biggest problem with rodents. Some residents claim that they can sometimes not even hear each other over the sounds of mice fighting. Pest expert Evita Pouw has several suggestions for keeping rodents away. These include storing food in glass or metal boxes, using sealed rubbish bins and closing cracks and holes through which mice can enter.
