Suspects confess to murder in New Year’s disappearance

Rhowan P. and Desiree G. confessed to the police that they murdered 28-year-old Jesse van Wieren in Kloosterburen early on New Year's morning, the Public Prosecutor announced. The autopsy on Van Wieren's body showed that he died as the result of stab wounds. According to the prosecutor, the suspects stated that they got into a fight with Van Wieren in P.'s house and stabbed him. Both suspects participated in the violence. Both 25-year-old P. and 27-year old G. were remanded into custody for another 90 days. P. will also be admitted to the Pieter Baan Center for observation. Van Wieren disappeared after leaving a bar in Kloosterburen during the early hours of New Year's morning. His body was eventually found in P.'s garden, near the bar where he was last seen. After the murder the mayor of Groningen called for an investigation into the practices at assisted living and care facility Keroazie. G. is a patient supervised by the group.
