Police arrest man with ax after firing warning shot

The police fired a warning shot while arresting an ax wielding man in Oirschot on Thursday night. The man was destroying the furniture in a house on Van Aerlestraat, Omroep Brabant reports. It is unclear whether the man was destroying his own furniture in his own house. He refused to follow police orders and drop the ax, which is when one officer fired a warning shot. The warning shot frightened the man enough that he dropped the ax. He was arrested and taken to the police station. As is the case whenever an officer fires his weapon, the Rijksrecherche will investigate the shooting. The Rijksrecherche is the department that handles internal investigations at the police.
