Lynched piglet, anti-refugee message found at asylum site
Two dead piglets were found at the site of a planned asylum center in the Noord-Brabant town of Heesch. The pigs were accompanied by signs against the asylum center. One read: "People say no to asylum center", according to broadcaster NOS.
One piglet was found lynched and hanging from a chain on a tree, the other was on the roof of a transformer box. Other signs found on the site read "asylum center 500 = too many" and "Heesch = against asylum center".
The municipality removed the pigs. It is unclear who is behind the gruesome protest. Marieke Moorman, mayor of the municipality Bernheze, called the protest highly inappropriate to the local broadcaster Maasland FM.
The board of mayor and aldermen announced the plans for the new asylum center on Tuesday. The asylum center will house up to 500 refugees for a maximum of 10 years.
