Home values up 3 pct. on last year

The prices of existing homes were 3.4 percent higher in October than in the same month last year, following the slight upward trend that started in June 2013. This is according to figures released by Statistics Netherlands and the Land Registry on Friday. In October the average price of an existing home was at about the same level as in the first moths of 2004. Compared to June 2013, when home prices reached their low point, prices were 6.8 higher in October. Compared to the peak in August 2008, prices in October were 16.2 percent lower. Home sales were up 14 percent in October, compared to the same month last year. A total of 16,324 homes changed ownership in October. During the first 10 months of this year 142,182 homes were sold, 22 percent more than in the same period in 2014.
