More arrests made for human trafficking

Five residents from Amsterdam and Zaandam have been taken into custody under suspicion of human trafficking and the exploitation of workers from Eastern Europe. These arrests form part of an investigation into forgery and exploitation being conducted by the Social Affairs Inspectorate and the Public Prosecutor's National Office. The five suspects had a recruitment agency for cleaning and technical staff that hid people by putting them to work in restaurants and hotel kitchens, AD reports The Poles, Hungarians and Czechs were not paid the wages they were entitled to. A representative from the Social Affairs Inspectorate told AD that many of the workers shared the same physical address, where they enjoyed little freedom. The roles of the men at the recruitment agency are being examined.
