Report: Security breach forces Schiphol terminal evacuation

Updated at 11:15 p.m. on 21 Sept 2015 The M gates in the Departures 3 terminal at Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam was evacuated Monday night amid reports of a passenger who made it past a security checkpoint, but was later determined to be suspicious because of her mobile phone case with a photo of a gun on it. All passengers were ordered re-screened at about 9:30 p.m. by the Koninklijke Marechaussee, the branch of the military that provides policing at Dutch airports. “We cannot confirm nor deny that,” a spokesman for the Marechaussee initially told newspaper AD, however the military service later confirmed the report to newspaper De Telegraaf. A woman and her boyfriend, both appearing to be about 20 years old, were pulled aside by security because her mobile phone case had an image of a gun on it, Blendle founder Marten Blankesteijn said on Twitter while waiting for a flight at the airport. "Now under control, and the phone indeed appears that it cannot shoot," Blankesteijn added. The area was released before 11 p.m. On social media site Twitter, another eyewitness thought at least one person was possibly arrested during the operation. https://twitter.com/KastelenLieke/status/646052625444700160
