Telecom Ziggo struck in second cyber attack this week

Internet service provider Ziggo was struck by another DDoS attack on Wednesday night, once again leaving many customers without access to the internet. The nationwide disruption has since been resolved. Ziggo's television services were not affected. A spokesperson for Ziggo confirmed this to NU on Thursday morning. Like the previous attack on Tuesday night, this disruption was nationwide, but did not affect all Ziggo customers. Customers from the old UPC are had no known internet problems. According to the company, Wednesday night's attack was once again aimed at the DNS servers, which redirects domain names to the correct IP addresses. The attack was more severe than the one on Tuesday night, so the measures the company took in response to the previous attack were not sufficient. The spokesperson told NU that they were able to repel the attack around 4:00 a.m. on Thursday and that everybody should have internet access again. "Maybe people still need to reset their modem."
