Ex-cop suspected in Rembrandt theft from Philips collection

A former police officer Peter "Peer" de J. is suspected of involvement in the theft of an artwork from the Philips collection, private detective John Vullers of detective office Ben Zuidema confirmed to the Telegraaf. De J worked for the Brabant police for more than 30 years. The painting involved was painted by a pupil of Rembrandt, according to the newspaper. It was stolen from a Philips villa in Eindhoven last year. De J. is suspected of offering the stolen painting for sale. The case briefly appeared in the court in Den Bosch on Tuesday. The case was stopped for today after the Court granted De J.'s lawyer's request that a witness be questioned by a magistrate.
