Imtech money troubles threaten Amsterdam subway project

Imtech's financial troubles will have direct consequences for Amsterdam's North/South subway line, spokesperson for the project Raymond Schra said to AT5 on Tuesday morning. Imtech was hired for the installation of cables, ducts, elevators and escalators. The company is involved in all installation activities connected to the stations and tunnels. "As the order giver we are obviously following the developments with a keen eye", Schra said. According to him, they are making analyzes so that they are able to take measures to limit any eventual damage if necessary. It is still to early to say whether this will lead to additional delays or higher costs. City councilors voiced their concerns about the developments at Intech to the news agency on Monday. "Without Imtech we have a big problem. We could already see it coming a little bit and I hope that the alderman has management measures ready", D66 councilor Bart Vink said to AT 5. "We can not afford a new delay." Traffic alderman Pieter Litjens refused to comment.
