Two casinos robbed, one suspect arrested
Two casinos in Almere and Venray were robbed during the early hours of Sunday morning. One suspect was arrested in connection with the robbery in Almere.
The robbery in Venray happened around 0:30 a.m. at the casino on Henseniusstraat, according to the police. Two armed men wearing dark clothes forced their way into the casino when an employee went out to bring an advertisement board inside. They took an amount of money from the cash register and fled via Kortestraat towards Patersstraat, where the police believe a getaway car was waiting.
The exact amount of money stolen is still unknown. So far no one has been arrested in this case. The police would like to make contact with any witnesses.
The police got a report of the robbery in Almere around 9:40 a.m. Two employees of the casino on Koetsierbaan were attacked by an unknown man. He threatened them with a gun-like object and tied them up. He stole an amount of money and fled.
The suspect got onto the back of a motorcycle driven by another person and the two drove away on Deventerpad towards Lentehof. After a tip the police were able to arrest a 34 year old man from Almere in connection with this robbery. He was taken to the police station for questioning.
The police are investigating the robbery and would like to make contact with any witnesses or people who may have information about the robbers or their escape route.
