ADO vs PSV match will be cancelled if police strike continues

The football match between PSV and AD Den Haag on Saturday will be cancelled should the police action planned for that day go through. The police unions announced last week that they are planning actions around eight of the nine matches during the first round the league. The municipality of The Hague made this announcement on Monday, after discussions with the police and the Public Prosecutor, AD reports. According to the municipality, it would be irresponsible to let the league match happen if the police are striking. The municipality will not try to stop the action from their side. "It is completely in the hands of the unions and Minister van der Steur", a spokesperson said to the newspaper on Monday. The police unions are protesting for a better collective bargaining agreement from Minister Ard van der Steur. These protests have been going on for some time. On Monday the police started a "no emergency, no police" action, during which the police will only respond to urgent, life-threatening calls. For the protests surrounding the football matches, the unions have planned actions during eight of the nine matches in the league - the match between Feyenoord and Utrecht in Rotterdam on August 8th being the only exception. During these actions, officers deployed to work at the matches will strike from one hour before the game until one hour after the game. Last week Football Association KNVB said they regret tat the national league is once again the target of police action. The Association is currently investigating how many of the matches in the first round will have to be cancelled.
