Delta Lloyd CFO resigns after central bank fight

Delta Lloyd's chief financial officer Emiel Roozen has resigned due to conflict between the insurer and De Nederlandsche Bank over confidential information. In December DNB demanded that Roozen departs and imposed a fine of almost 23 million euros on the insurer. According to the regulator, Delta Lloyd had made decisions based on confidential information from the regulator. Delta Lloyd was outraged by this decision and took legal steps to fight it. “We can not reconcile the views of DNB with the facts we have found”, Jean Frijns, chairman of the supervisory board, said then. On Friday the judge ruled that the imposed fine is justified, but that Roozen does not necessarily have to resign, NOS reports.. Frijns is also stepping down, effective October 1st. "Delta Lloyd thinks it is in the best interest of Delta Lloyd and its stakeholders to conclude this matter as quickly as possible", Frijns wrote in a statement after the ruling.
