Wolf spotted in Netherlands killed in Germany

The wolf spotted in the Netherlands earlier this year, was killed in Germany in April. The animal was hit by a truck on the A7 near Berkhof, just north of Hannover, on April 15th. The wolf's identity was confirmed by a DNA test by the Institute Senckenberg, NRC reports. The study also showed that the animal was a male offspring of the Munster pack. This wolf - the first free wolf to be confirmed in the Netherlands in more than 150 years - caused quite a lot of excitement when it visited the country in March. It crossed the border from Germany into Drenthe and then traveled to Groningen. The wolf spent about a week in the Netherlands before returning to Germany.
