Hundreds of Dutch stranded in Singapore after volcanic eruption
Hundreds of Dutch people are currently stranded in Singapore and Bali. KLM had to cancel the flights between the two islands after a volcano on East Java erupted.
The volcanic eruption caused a large cloud of ash, making it impossible for pilots to see. The airport in Denpasar, Bali had to be closed, NOS reports. Airports on Lombok and East Java are also not accessible by air at this stage.
A spokesperson for KLM told the broadcaster that the airline has arranged an overnight stay in a hotel for passengers stranded after the flights were canceled. It involves flight KL835 and KL836. It is not clear when KLM will be able to fly between the islands again. The airline is keeping a close eye on developments.
