Police seize private collector's WWII arsenal

The police discovered and seized a fair amount of World War II weapons in a locker on Kernreactorstraat in Veerendaal on Thursday evening. The discovery was made after the police received an anonymous tip. The locker contained 8 Lee Enfield rifles, a Bren gun, a Piat, a Thompson, a kar98 rifle, a replica of a M1911 pistol, two MKI hand grenades, a N69 hand grenade and a Panzerfaust 30. The weapons were defused, but the owner of the collection - a 40 year old man from Drunen - could not provide the mandatory license and certificates. The arsenal was confiscated. Specialists of the department of Special Laws will investigate the weapons and formulate a report. Once this report has been completed, the police will discuss what todo with the weapons and a official report against the owner with the Public Prosecutor.
