Russia extends ban on Dutch, western food imports

Russian president Vladimir Putin has extended the import ban on food from the West, including the Netherlands, by one year. This was done in response to the European Union extending the sanctions against Russia by 6 months earlier this week. The Russian list of banned products include, dairy products, fish meat, poultry, fruit and vegetables, NU reports. The European Union is currently offering support to producers of certain fruit and vegetables, but these support measures will end on June 30th. The Russian market is one of the most important markets for the Dutch fruit and vegetable sector. At this stage, the Ministry of Economic Affairs can't say whether the ministry will be able to support Dutch growers and farmers during this extension of the boycott.
