Keukenhof closes doors after record season

The flower exhibition Keukenhof in Lisse closed its doors to the public on Sunday after another record season. A total of 1.175 million people visited the flower park this year, Keukenhof announced on Twitter. This is the second consecutive season that the flower park attracted a record number of visitors. In 2014 more than a million people visited Keukenhof. This year the Keukenhof was more popular with Americans, Germans, Chinese and Souteast Asians, NU reports. More Dutch families also visited the park. According to the park, the high attendance can partly be attributed to the publicity surrounding the theme Vincent van Gogh, for which Keukenhof collaborated with the Van Gogh Museum and the Kroller-Muller Museum. This year marks the 125th anniversary of the painters death. In 2016 Keukenhof will be open between March 24th and May 16th. Next year's theme will be The Golden Age.
