About 1,500 storm damage claims so far

Insurance company Interpolis estimated receiving some 1,500 damage claims after the storms and high winds on Tuesday and Wednesday. The Liberation Day storm alone caused about a thousand reports, according to Telegraaf. The total cost of the damages was not yet estimated, the insurer said on Wednesday. Most common reports were in connection with blown off roof tiles, fallen fences and branches landing on cars. At least one lightning strike caused the death of two people in Amersfoort on Wednesday afternoon. A large section of wooden boarding toppled over in an Amsterdam shopping district, sending seven to area hospitals on Tuesday night. Meteorologists had issued weather alerts for the storms on both days.
