Sun could shine on cloudy King's Day

A chilly, windy King's Day Eve could make way for a better-than-expected King's Day across parts of the Netherlands, the country's official meteorological agency KNMI said on Sunday. Monday morning will likely be dry nationwide, with western parts of the country getting sunshine thanks to breaks in cloud coverage. A moderately windy Sunday evening is expected, with rain in the east. Overnight temperatures could dip to five degrees, KNMI said, but Weather.com suggested it could even bottom out at three degrees. However, a high temperature in the Netherlands of 12 degrees is likely on Monday. In the south and east, rain is a strong possibility. Across the entire country, the chance of precipitation is at 40 percent, KNMI said, although weather website WeerOnline was more optimistic, saying there is a 20 percent chance of rain. Those hoping to celebrate King's Day out at sea can expect strong waves and choppy water, as wind speed could reach up to 30 km/h.
