Witnesses needed in Ridderkerk fatal shooting investigation
Police have formed a large-scale, 20-officer strong team to investigate the shooting that left an unknown man dead on Seringenplantsoen in Ridderkerk on Monday just before midnight, police state their website. After talking with bystanders near the shooting site, police are asking witnesses to come forward to help them find the perpetrator.
The victim was sitting in a Smart car on a parking lot next to several apartments on Seringenplantsoen when the shooting occurred. The perpetrator presumably fled by car, almost causing a collision in a roundabout on Populierenlaan. Police suspect criminal circumstances are at play, but cannot at this point say anything about the motives or the circumstances of the culprit.
Forensic detectives started tracing evidence immediately after the incident in and around the victim's car. The car was seized and towed away as a police helicopter took an overview of the area.
The police are now looking for anyone who saw anything peculiar on Seringenplantsoen at the time of the shooting, saw the Smart car before the incident or saw the car almost causing a collision in the roundabout. Tips from Seringenplantsoen residents and security camera footage are also requested.
