Hired company finds justice deputy's long-lost receipt in just two days

Within two days, an IT company hired by former Justice Minister Ivo Opstelten located a receipt documenting the payoff that his former deputy, Secretary Fred Teeven, made to a drug criminal. Opstelten had claimed the receipt was untraceable. Opstelten repeatedly told the Tweede Kamer, the lower house of Dutch parliament, that he had done everything in his power to find recorded details of the deal, whereby criminal Cees H was given 4.7-million guilders (2.1 million euros) tax free in 2001. But the former justice minister did nothing to locate the missing pay slip, according to reporting in de Volkskrant. Hiring specialists to do to the job ended up costing 50,000 euros. Both Opstelten and Teeven resigned on Monday before their integrity violation hearing regarding the drug baron payoff.
