Assassination suspect caught in major drug investigation

The police arrested the alleged order-giver for the assassination of the Lithuanian Gintas Macionis during a mass police action this morning, RTL reports. More than 200 police officers participated in the action. Two other men were also arrested. Macionis was found severely wounded in the driveway of his home in Huijbergen on February 22nd last year. Macionis had bullet wounds in his head. He died in hospital a short time later. In September last year the police searched the Groenendries recreation park for the murder weapon after receiving information that it was dumped there. According to the newspaper, the order-giver is 40-year-old Miloud B. from Amsterdam. He is also suspected of involvement in a criminal organization. Three men were arrested in the Macionis assassination case last year. A fourth suspect has also been in custody in Germany since last year. According to the Volkskrant, there was a break in the case when the suspect in Germany confessed to being present at the assassination. He pointed to 31-year-old Nermin B. as the shooter. During the investigation in to Macionis' death, the police became aware that two drug gangs may have been involved in the assassination, which led to the mass police action today. The police simultaneously raided 15 properties in West Brabant, Zeeland and Amsterdam looking for drugs, weapons and money. A cannabis plantation was found in Putte. The other two suspects were arrested in Oost Souburg and Bergen op Zoom. They are only suspected of involvement in a criminal organization. The police are still looking for one more suspect.
