KLM to cut up to 1000 jobs

KLM aims to cut between 500 and 1,000 jobs before mid 2016 in a new reorganization. The company is currently discussing a voluntary redundancy plan with the unions. Bob van der Wal, chairman of the Association of Senior KLM Staff, confirmed this to De Telegraaf. According to him the KLM management warned of serious consequences if the transport growth does not recover. According to the unions FNV, Unie and VHKP, KLM wants to labor costs to decrease by 10 percent in the next 5 years. The company also wants 20 percent more productivity. "We are still discussing. Forced redundancies are out of the question for us." the unions said to the newspaper.
