Dutchman arrested in Belgian lord's castle murder

A man was arrested in the Netherlands in connection with the castle-murder in Belgium, the prosecutor in Bruges, who is investigating the case, announced on Monday. Justice in Belgium would not give any further information about what role the arrested man may have played in the murder, Omroep Brabant reports. Castle lord Stijn Saelens wife found a trail of blood and a bullet casing in their home on January 31st, 2012. There was no sign of her husband. His body was found in a nearby forest two weeks later. Justice is certain that the murder was committed by, now deceased, Ronnie van B. from Eindhoven. His DNA was found in the castle. A second DNA sample was also found, possibly of a second offender. It is possible that the man recently arrested in the Netherlands is this second offender. According to Belgian media, the man was arrested last week and is currently fighting his extradition to Belgium, Omroep Brabant reports. Three other people have been arrested in this case - the owner of the land where the body was found, Saelens' father-in-law and Saelens brother in law. The latter two, Dr. André Gyselbrecht and his son Peter, are seen as the people who ordered the murder. Gyselbrecht has stated that he just wanted to teach Saelens "a lesson". The Public Prosecutor in the Netherlands has no knowledge of this arrest. "And if I knew, I would not say anything. It is a matter of our Belgian colleagues" a spokesperson said to Omroep Brabant.
