House crushed in crane marriage proposal still unmended

The repair of the IJsselstein house that was heavily damaged by a toppling crane in December, has been delayed. According to Arnold Wagemakers of housing corporation Provides (which owns the house), the delays are caused by the bad weather. The restoration of the house should have been done already, Wagemakers says, but that has not happened. "It has purely to do with the weather. The roof has to be opened, but that can not be done because of the rain and snow." According to a neighbor, the work has come to a standstill because of disagreements between the insurers of Provides and Slootjes, the crane company whose crane fell onto the house on December 13th, the AD reports. Wagenmakers denies this. According to him, the go ahead has been given by the liability insurance of the crane company. The crane fell onto the house during a neighbor's marriage proposal. The damage was made even worse when the crane crashed into the house a second time during a lifting attempt. Wagemakers does not know when the restoration will be complete, but according to him it is a matter of weeks rather than months. The residents of the damaged house are staying elsewhere until the repairs have been done. The neighbors on both sides of the damaged house are back in their homes.
