Forced contraception wanted after daughter's murder

Experts are advocating for imposed birth control for mentally disabled parents. They want to know how many Daniella's must be beaten to death by their mentally disabled parents before politicians will seriously discuss forced contraception. The lawsuit against mother Karin S. and stepfather Geert W., who is accused of the torture and murder of their 20 year old daughter, appears in Groningen this week. According to professor Paul Vlaardingerbroek, politicians are avoiding this complicated ethical issue. "The subject is still bogged down in endless discussions. Weak-gifted parents have the right to a child. But some children also have the right to not be born." Every year more than 50 children die as a result of abuse. Research by the Dutch Forensic Institute shows that the majority of these parents have psychiatric problems, abuse drugs or alcohol, and also often have an intellectual disability.
