Body found in Helmond canal identified as missing 19-year-old Mick
A body found in the water in Helmond on Saturday was confirmed later that day to be Mick, a 19-year-old man with an intellectual disability who disappeared from his home on Rochadeweg on January 2, police said.
Police have ruled out a criminal offense. “The investigation has been completed,” police said in a message posted on X, adding that there are no indications of a crime. Authorities also urged the public to remove any images of the boy if they had shared them.
The discovery followed an intensive search after Mick disappeared from home in Helmond during the night from Thursday to Friday and was reported missing.
Police said a body was found around 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the canal along Rochadeweg. Identification later confirmed it was the missing teenager.
The search involved multiple units and organizations, including the police mobile unit, the Veteranen Search Team, and search dogs from Stichting Inzet Reddingshond Nederland.
