Car rams teen girls biking; driver escapes scene

Police are trying to track down the driver of a car that barrelled into a group of cyclists sending two girls to the hospital. Eight girls were biking on Lavallestraat in Someren, Noord-Brabant on Friday when a light-coloured car struck several girls from behind. The driver fled from the scene after the incident, police say. It happened at about 9:15 p.m. Two of the girls, both 14 years old, were transported to an area hospital. They are from Someren and nearby Asten. One was admitted, and her condition is unknown. The other was treated and released. A third girl with minor injuries was treated at the scene. Little is known about either the hit-and-run driver or the car, which is said to have a graphic on the side of the vehicle resembling either a logo or racing stripes. Police are looking for witnesses in the area as they continue their investigation.
