Amsterdam abandoned baby fundraiser hits €10,000

A fund for a baby girl found abandoned in an underground garbage container in Amsterdam has reached a milestone, with people and businesses donating over €10,000. The initial goal of the fundraiser is to reach €20,000, with all of the money earmarked to help her live a better life. Frank de la Bey, a concerned father of two, decided to set up a fund for the baby after the girl was found alive by a passerby in late October. The goal of the fund is to secure the baby's well-being in the future and pay for her daycare, school and healthcare costs. "Happy 2015! My good intentions are that, along with you all, we will raise the second €10,000!" de la Bey writes on the fund's Facebook page. He is encouraging everyone to donate even a small amount to the fund and also . "Because I want you to grow up with all the luck. In a family where you are allowed to laugh and cry, may be angry and you may find your way in life," De la Bey wrote in an open letter to the girl. "With warmth and love around you. I want you to have all the chances in the world to live your life the way you want." Police have not yet found the parents of the child, and no suspects in the abandonment case have been apprehended.
