Wilders: "Incomprehensible" to be prosecuted for speaking "truth"

PVV leader Geert Wilders finds it "incomprehensible" that the Public Prosecutor has decided to prosecute him, he said to ANP. The Public Prosecutor announced earlier today that Wilders will be prosecuted on the charges of insulting a group of people based on race and incitement to discrimination and hatred. "I said what millions of people think and feel. For the second time they apparently want to deal with someone who speaks the truth. It is a travesty that I have to defend myself before the court for that. The Public Prosecutor should deal with the prosecution of jihadists instead of me." Wilders said. On March 19th during an election rally Wilders asked his supporters in the Hague if they want more or less Moroccans in the city and the Netherlands. "Less, less, less", chanted the audience. Then we'll arrange it", Wilders responded. Wilders also spoke about "less Moroccans" at an election campaign in the Hague district Loosduinen the previous week, on March 12th.
http://youtu.be/-0PWU24-MYc On December 8th Wilders was questioned as a suspect by the national police. During the questioning Wilders made clear that he does not take back anything he said about "less Moroccans", because he feels that he said nothing wrong. He stated that if the Public Prosecutor prosecutes him it is "politically motivated". According to criminal law scholar Theo de Roos, there is a reasonable chance that Wilders will be convicted for inciting hatred and discrimination. "This case is much stronger than Wilders I", says Roos. In 2011 Wilders was acquitted of inciting hatred and discrimination against Muslims and non-western immigrants. "Then it was more about verbal attacks Wilders made on the religion of Islam and the Quran. The law requires that these attacks be against groups" According to him, the statements Wilders made in March were clearly directed against Moroccans.
