Man sets himself on fire at Tilburg police station, dies

A man who set himself on fire at the entrance of a Tilburg police station Friday afternoon died later that day in the hospital. Bystanders outside the Tilburg police station witnessed the man ignite himself on the stairs of the entryway to the Stationsstraat facility. Police officers rushed to assist the man by extinguishing the flames and performing first aid. The man was transferred to an ambulance, and rushed to a nearby medical center where he passed away.

Initial reports suggest the victim was first attempting to enter the police offices in the Noord-Brabant city. An immediate forensic investigation has been launched into the incident aiming to ascertain the identity of the victim, and the motive for his horrifying exhibition.
