Justice Sec should work closer with cities on asylum seekers: PvdA

The PvdA wants State Secretary Fred Teeven of Security and Justice to consult with municipalities on the shelter for asylum seekers and other undocumented immigrants. The coalition party feels that a temporary form of shelter is desirable, but did not give a possible solution. The PvdA wants to wait for the recommendation of European Ministers on this subject, said PvdA Parliament Member Attje Kuiken on Thursday during a discussion in the Chamber. Teeven wants the ministers to address the recent advice from the European Committee of Social rights to provide undocumented immigrants with "bed, bread and bath". Thus far the social democrats have given no support to attempts by opposition parties to deal with the shelter for undocumented immigrants this coming winter. According to the SP, GroenLinks, D66 and ChristenUnie, the government should help pay for this.
