Dutch to begin MH17 salvage in Ukraine
The Dutch Safety Board has given instructions that the wreckage of flight MH17 be transferred to the Netherlands.
The intention is that the wreckage in the Ukraine be collected and the transferred to the Netherlands. The board wants to reconstruct a part of the plane for the investigation into the cause and the course of the disaster.
The board expects that the salvaging of the wreckage will start within a few days. This is dependent on the fragile security conditions in the area. According to Safety Board chairman Tjibbe Joustra, the plan for the salvage is ready and technical preparations have begun.
298 people were killed in the MH17 disaster, including 196 Dutch. A national memorial service will be held for the victims on Monday.
