Massive court cost increase scaled back

Minster Opstelten of Security and Justice wants to increase the court fees greatly, but on Prinsjedag he will announce that the increase has been scaled back, RTL News reports. Court fees are payable when a lawsuit is started. The rates would have been increased with between 2 and 15 percent. In total that would have provided 45 million euros. Now it has been scaled back to 32 million euros. Opstelten hopes to gain the support of a majority in the First Chamber for his plans with the adjusted cut. During the budget negotiations between the government and the D66, Christian Union and SGP they tried to come to an agreement on the justice cuts, but they did not succeed, RTL News reports.
