Police shoot at man after car assault

A shot was fired in Wijngaardsweg in Hoensbroek, Herleen after a 24-year-old man from Saint Georges, Belgium tried to outrun a police check on Tuesday. Around 8 p.m. on Tuesday night a police patrol tried to pull over a motorist on the Beersdalweg for a check. Police gave chase when the motorist sped away. The chase ended on Wijngaardsweg, but when officers tried to arrest the man, he jumped back into his vehicle. The man rammed into two police cars. One of the officers responded by firing a gunshot. The man's vehicle came to a stop further down the street and he was arrested. No injuries were reported.
