Election board: ban voter selfies

'Stemfies', or making a selfie while in the voting booth, showing the ballot in the picture, should be banned according to the Election Board, as it conflicts with voter freedom and voter secrecy. The biggest trend around the municipal council elections on the 19th of March this year was making a selfie in the voting booth. Everyone got into it, even Alexander Pechtold, leader of the D66. After some debate, Minister Ronald Plasterk of the Interior and Kingdom Relations said that making stemfies would be allowed. Now, the Election Board says it should not. "Every possibility that voters are put under pressure or feel pressure to vote for a certain party and/or candidate and to show proof of that, should be prevented" the Board states on their website. The Board has advised Minister Plasterk to explicitly ban the making of voter selfies in the Voter Law. Selfies in the booth are fine, the Board states, so long as the actual ballot is not visible.
