Woman held in NL for Somali terrorism funding

American authorities arrested three women in relation to their hand in collecting money for Somali terrorist group Al-Shabaab, active in East Africa. According to the US Ministry of Justice, one of these women lives in The Netherlands. The three women are suspected of collecting money, under cover of charity funding, and funneling that money through channels in Kenya and Somalia, straight to Al-Shabaab. According to the Ministry of Justice in the US, two women aged 34 and 44 were arrested in America. The third woman was arrested in The Netherlands. The Ministry did not give details about her nationality, her age or her place of residence. Al-Shabaab is now notoriously known to have claimed responsibility for the massacre at Nairobi's Westgate shopping center in September 2013, in which one Dutch national was killed. The group is also widely believed to be behind most of the elephant poaching activities in the region, selling ivory to drum up funds.
