Dog runs off after World Cup cheering

The World Cup is an exciting time for a lot of people. For one dog, however, the excitement was a little too much to bear. A room full of people cheering when Dutch substitute goalie Tim Krul saved the second penalty kick by Costa Rica in the shootouts on Sunday was too much for dog Beike from Ede, who took to his heels and fled. The family is still searching for their beloved hound. The three-year-old Frisian Stabyhoun became so stressed at the sound of his owner's family cheering for Oranje that it fled through an open door. The dog's owner, 81-year-old Nel Kroodsma from Bennekom, was with family members in Ede to watch the match against Costa Rica together. The family have started a large search party to look for their dog. "We are going to hand out flyers and hang posters", daughter Anja Kroodsma says. "It's really dramatic for my mother." According to Omroep Gelderland, Belke was spotted in the area of Kernhem in Ede. Whoever spots the animal, is asked to call Anja Kroodsma at 06-30072559.
