Forced prostitution of 15-yr-olds lands 4 in jail

Four people were arrested in Heerlen and Geleen this week, in suspicion of working together to prostitute underage girls. The police also arrested a client of the prostitutes, who are around the age of 15. Police arrested two men and two women, whose involvement in the prostitution ring was to greet clients, arrange advertising and work space, and leading clients to the girls. It is unclear to what extent the girls were forced into the position. Laptops and phones were seized during the arrest. In Heerlen, two fake firearms were also discovered at the premises. In The Netherlands, the minimum prostitution age is 18 years old. Minister Ivo Opstelten of Security and Justice (VVD) is working on a bill that would raise the minimum age to 21.
