Martha asked for police protection

The notorious criminal Gwenette Martha, who was assassinated on Thursday, asked the police for protection half a year ago. The police refused, however, Martha's lawyer Nico Meijering says, the Telegraaf reports. Martha was assassinated on Thursday , after apparently asking police for protection. "Martha could only receive protection if he gave opened up about the people who gave the assignment behind assassination attempt against him", Meijering told Vrij Nederland on Thursday, mere hours before Martha's violent death. Meijering was said to be broken up about his client's death, but wanted to give no further comments Friday morning. There will be a press conference at his office in Amsterdam in the afternoon for more information.
