Van Gaal chooses Giggs over Kluivert at Man. U

Ryan Giggs, current interim-manager for Manchester United, is seen as an important technical boon in the organization of the club, also when Louis van Gaal starts managing next season at Old Trafford. Giggs will become the right hand man of the new manager, meaning that Patrick Kluivert is out of the running. Man U. does not want to make the same mistake as last year when David Moyes took his own team to Old Trafford, and dismissed all of Alex Ferguson's strong staff members.

Giggs will remain at the head of management for Man U. as culture guard. It is expected that the announcement of Louis van Gaal's position as new manager of the club will be announced some time this week. Van Gaal, current coach for Oranje, wanted to take Patrick Kluivert with him as second in command, but this idea is now off the table as director Ed Woodward wants to keep Giggs on as crucial technical man for the future of the club. United also wants to keep Giggs' generation mates Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt, although their future roles are as yet unclear. Van Gaal's former pupil Thomas Müller is set to leave Bayern München, is an important applicant to strengthen midfield, just as Marco Reus from Borussia Dortmund. The accession of a new manager will be made public as soon as possible in order not to disturb the Dutch national team's practice for the World Cup. Next week, Van Gaal will hold a press conference where he will announce his pre-selection.
