Dutch woman killed in Cambodia; baby hurt

The 31-year old Daphna Beerdsen was found dead in her home in Phnom-Penh, Cambodia on Monday. She had stab wounds on her body. Her 18-month old baby was wounded and is now in hospital, the ministry of Foreign Affairs confirms. The woman, from Alkmaar, was stabbed six times with a sharp object. The family's nanny found her body and immediately called the emergency services. There were no signs of a break-in. Police in Cambodia have no lead on a suspect, and have made no arrests. There is an investigation to see if the woman was sexually abused. Her daughter is thought to be seriously injured. According to local media, the woman was working for the United Nations in Cambodia with her husband. The man was not at home. He is being sheltered by British embassy staff.
