Overall drop in Carnival burglaries

The number of carnival burglaries between February 28 and March 3 dropped this year in Zealand and West-Brabant, but rose in East-Brabant, compared to last year, reported the police.During spring break and carnival the number of burglaries traditionally spikes.

In a police campaign people were asked to be more alert and take certain measures to both prevent burglaries and make it easier to bust burglars. Zealand and West-Brabant had 161 burglaries this year, compared to 214 last year. However, East-Brabant had 369 burglaries, compared to 354 last year. Police ask that people remain alert and take precautions, call 112 in case of suspicious activities. To report burglaries there's no need to call 112 of course, in that case 0900-8844 is the number to dial. People are encouraged to try and remember or take notes about details, or take pictures with their phones.
