Ruling against ex-director Borsato company

The court of justice in Zwolle will make a ruling on Thursday in the process against ex-director of the event management company of Marco Borsato. The Public Prosecution Service (OM) wants businessman Leo W. to serve 22 months behind bars. The OM thinks that W. submitted false invoices for millions. In this way, he could have re-claimed hundreds of thousands of euros in VAT at the tax-authority to pay the personnel of the destitute company. W. did not manage to save Borsato's company with this. The Entertainment Group went bankrupt in 2009. According to the OM, Leo W. also took around €300.000 into his own pocket.

W.'s lawyer is committed to an acquittal. According to the lawyer, the financial position of the company was already dire before W., took over as director. The businessman tried, according to his lawyer, to investigate the administrative and financial chaos, by sending false invoices.
