Pirate Bay access case appealed

The "Brein" foundation will appeal the verdict of the The Hague court, late January, that ruled Internet providers Xs4all and Ziggo no longer have to block download website "The Pirate Bay." The block had been in affect since January 2012. The decision of the court is based on the view that the block is 'not affective' and a 'impairment of free enterprise.'

The providers themselves don't infringe copyright, according to the judge. The court's decision contradicts decisions other European courts have reached so far. A verdict of the highest European court is expected shortly. In the meantime the Brein foundation is held responsible for the payment of the trial expenses, adding up to €326,000.
