Body of overboard woman found

The wife of a barge captain was mortally injured this morning when she fell overboard between two ships during anchoring of the ship in Dodewaard. The captain wanted to anchor his ship against another in the Waal harbor.

His wife was helping him, but for unknown reasons she fell overboard, between the ships. Emergency responders pulled her out of the water and tried to resuscitate her, but she died on the scene from her grave injuries. Police are investigating the incident. This past Sunday the captain of a barge died in the Rotterdam port, when a piece of steel fell on his cabin. His wife and a terminal worker were rushed to the hospital with injuries.
