Pirate Party ousts tea light holder thrower

Tea light candle holder thrower Erwin Lensink removes himself as governing board member of the Pirate Party in Nijmegen. This comes after talks on Sunday in which party leaders urged him to step down. National party leader Dirk Poot announced this. The decision came after Lensink placed himself on the ballot as municipal council member of the Pirate Party in Nijmegen. The Nijmegen faction has only been set up recently, and wasn't planning on participating. They will go to the electoral board on Monday to withdraw themselves. Lensink's application remains valid, however. Poot expects that Lensink may enter his own list into the municipal council member elections. Lensink himself is still unsure about this, but will make a decision soon. The mistrust of Lensink has nothing to do with his criminal past. A few of the party members in Nijmegen knew that Lensink threw a candle holder at the Golden Coach on Prinsjesdag in 2010 when he became governing board member of the Pirate Party in Nijmegen. The rural governing board was informed of this last week, and has no objection against his leadership function.

"The break of faith in the Nijmegen governing board has to do with the fact that Lensink took matters in his own hands at the nomination for the municipal council member elections. It has nothing to do with his past" Dirk Poot has stated. Lensink tweeted that there is still a possibility of political collaboration between himself and the Pirate Party.
