Dutch men severely beat man on Scandinavian ferry

Two men from Valkenswaard (40 and 36) were arrested in the night from January 9th on 10th, on a ferry from Turku (Finland) to Stockholm (Sweden) for assaulting a Finnish man, reported the Eindhovens Dagblad. The incident occurred around 05:00 in the morning on board of the ferry, after reportedly the victim broke into the cabin of the two Dutch men, reported Omroep Brabant. The victim was severely beaten and was kicked in the head several times, sustaining significant injuries with a 'good chance' of permanent brain damage, according to a police spokesperson in Stockholm. All three men were under the influence of alcohol. The victim was treated in hospitals, both in Sweden and in Finland. The two Dutch are detained in Stockholm and will be tried within two weeks. The Prosecution in Sweden will decide on Friday whether their detention is extended. The men are facing sentences of anywhere between 2 and 8 years in prison. The men from Valkenswaard were riding the ScanCoveryTrail through Scandinavia, a rally for a variety of charities.
