Blasphemy no longer punishable (update)

The Criminal Code no longer imposes a ban on more offensive blasphemy. After the House, now the Senate also approved the deletion of the controversial section of the law. During a roll call vote Tuesday 49 senators voted for the motion and 21 against. At the same time, the Senate adopted a motion that orders the government to investigate whether the law can be adjusted in such a way that believers are protected from insults to their faith, without unduly restricting freedom of expression.
